2016 Invited Speaker Sessions at the SSAT Annual Meeting

The Foundation provides support for the Doris and John L. Cameron Guest Oration, the Maja and Frank Moody State-of-the-Art Lecture, and the Kelly and Carlos Pellegrini SSAT/SAGES Joint Symposium at the Annual Meeting.

Cameron Guest Oration

The 2016 Cameron Guest Orator was H. James Dallas, the author of Mastering the Challenges of Leading Change: Inspire the People and Succeed Where Others Fail. His address, “Mastering the Challenges of Leading Change,” focused on strategies for implementing change, setting priorities, engaging peoples, and achieving results.

Moody State-of-the-Art Lecture

The 2016 Moody State-of-the-Art Lecturer was Dr. Bruce L. Gewertz, the Surgeon-in-Chief, Chair of the Department of Surgery, Vice President for Interventional Services, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and H&S Nichols Distinguished Chair in Surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California. His lecture, “The Best Medicine: Leadership Lessons for Work and Life,” identified several leadership goals, including assembling a productive work group and building a supportive professional network.

Pellegrini SSAT/SAGES Joint Symposium

The 2016 Pellegrini SSAT/SAGES Joint Symposium, “Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Barrett's Esophagus and Early Esophageal Cancer,” highlighted new technologies and differing treatment recommendations. Thanks to the generosity of Foundation donors, the Pellegrini SSAT/SAGES Joint Symposium continues to be a valuable and meaningful closing event for the SSAT Annual Meeting.
