2016 Master Educator and Clinician Awards

The Foundation annually honors a distinguished mentor, teacher, and educator via the Andrew L. Warshaw Master Educator Award and an outstanding clinical surgeon via the Layton F. Rikkers Master Clinician Award.

Warshaw Master Educator Award

Dr. Fernandez-del Castillo
SSAT Foundation 2016-2014 Chair,
David W. Rattner, MD, presents Dr. Fernandez-del Castillo with the Master Educator Award
This award recognizes an individualís leadership as an outstanding surgical educator and mentor. The SSAT Foundation presented the 2016 Warshaw Master Educator Award to Dr. Carlos Fernandez-del Castillo. Dr. Fernandez-del Castillo is director of the pancreas and biliary surgery program and clinical co-director of the GI cancer center at the MGH, as well as professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.


Rikkers Master Clinician Award

David W. Rattner, MD, presents Dr. Ralph W. Aye with the Master Clinician Award
This award recognizes an outstanding clinical surgeon. The SSAT Foundation presented the 2016 Layton. F. Rikkers Master Clinician Award to Dr Ralph W. Aye. Dr. Aye currently serves as a Thoracic and Esophageal Surgeon, Program Leader of Thoracic Oncology, and Fellowship Director of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at the Swedish Cancer Institute and Swedish Medical Center.
