Digestive Disease Week is the world’s largest gathering of physicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery. SSAT member registration and housing for the 58th Annual Meeting held during DDW is now open on the DDW Website. The 2017 Annual Meeting has many offerings tailored for Residents and Fellows. 4th Annual SSAT Surgical Fellowship Fair
General surgery residents are faced with various career options after residency training, and choosing which path to take can be a very daunting task. To help ease this process, the SSAT Fellowship Fair provides an overview of the various fellowship options. We invite you to attend the 4th Annual Surgical Fellowship Fair on May 6, 2017, from 4:00 pm -5:30 pm, in Room S505a of McCormick Place, during the SSAT Annual Meeting held in conjunction with Digestive Disease Week.

During this Fair, you will have the opportunity to interact with faculty and fellows in different surgical specialties to ask your questions in interactive, small-group sessions:

  • Transplant Surgery (ASTS)
  • Hepatobiliary Surgery (AHPBA)
  • Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS)
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery (SAGES)
  • Colorectal Surgery (ASCRS)
  • Surgical Oncology (SSO)

SSAT Volunteer Opportunities

The SSAT partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) to offer two volunteer opportunities during the SSAT 56th Annual Meeting at DDW15 in Washington, D.C. All members of the SSAT were encouraged to join together and help the Capital Area Food Bank strengthen and fill in gaps in the hunger safety net under the Greater Washington Area.

After all these years of education and training, now you have to decide about a specialty area in surgery. How do you decide which fellowship would be a good fit for you? What is it like to be a Colorectal Surgeon? What about a Hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) Surgeon…or a Bariatric Surgeon? Come to the SSAT Surgical Fellowship Fair where you can learn about fellowships in Colorectal Surgery, HPB Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, and Surgical Oncology. A brief presentation will be followed by Q&A during this session on May 3, 2014. Lunch will be provided.
