Dr. Junichi Shindoh is the Director and Chair of Department of Gastroenterological Surgery and Executive Director of Advanced Multidisciplinary Treatment Center for Metastatic Liver Tumors at Toranomon Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. Tora-no-mon ("Tiger Gate" in Japanese) is a historical place just south of the Imperial Palace in the center of Tokyo, where there is an actual gate called "Tiger Gate" for the Edo Castle was located during the era of Samurai. Toranomon Hospital is one of the high-volume centers in Japan where he performs a leading number (>750) of HPB surgery annually.

The Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery (JOGS) is the official publication of the SSAT.
