The important work of SSAT’s Committees is essential to the success of the Society. Committees are broken into 4 divisions: Education, Member Services, Research and Administrative. Each year a call for Committee applications is sent to the SSAT membership to encourage participation. Look for the email notification in early spring.
The SSAT fills many of its committee positions through a self-nomination process, which successfully enhances participation by opening active roles in the Society to the membership.

The SSAT’s Committees are clustered based on key activities into the four working groups of Education, Research, Members Services/Policy, and Administration. Please review the requirements and expectations to volunteer for each committee—and familiarize yourself with the committees’ goals, tasks, and meeting schedules—before proceeding.
SSAT members in good standing are only permitted to sit on two (2) committees at one time. If you currently sit on a committee and are eligible and wish to remain active on that committee, please do not select more than one (1) additional committee for self-nomination. Committee Chairs provide an annual assessment of each committee member’s participation to the senior leadership. Reappointment and consideration for subsequent leadership positions will be based on this information.
And please understand that, given not only the high level of interest in Committee service but also the complexity of assigning so many members to the various committees, self-nomination unfortunately does not guarantee committee appointment.
Applications are available each year in January/February, with appointments beginning right after the annual meeting in May.
